MENU: There are 6 "Menu of the Day" plus 6 "Summer Menu" options that
can be mixed and matched according to taste and are very good value for
money up to €15 per person, including 3 courses, wine and bread. Coffee can
be substituted for the sweet course and a beer, mineral water or soft drink
for the wine.
There is also an extensive a la carte menu, which includes pizzas and
pastas, and special (lower priced) menus for children.
Additionally, Gemisant provide 4-course "workman's" menus on weekdays, which
change every day. There are no choice options except for the desert course.
These are also within the stated price-range.
IVA tax is not included but this is clearly stated on the menu.
AMBIENCE: Pleasant live jazz music playing. This was in background
for us as we were seated in the outer covered terrace area, which is
reserved for smokers. The live jazz is featured on Thursdays and only during
the winter months.
LAY OUT: The Gemisant Restaurant has traditional Spanish décor, is
spacious, well ventilated and heated (with hot/cold air-conditioning units)
and has separate smoking areas.
SERVICE: The Spanish speaking staff who were proficient in
English. They were attentive, efficient and competent as well as being
friendly. They were not informed beforehand that we were reviewing.
TABLE FOR 3: One of our parties smoked so we sat in the smoking
area. This was very comfortable and well ventilated and not a problem for
the non-smokers.
THE MEAL: We arrived at 20:00 without booking. The Gemisant was
almost full to capacity, we had a drink at the bar and were shown promptly
to our table.
Before our order was taken we received bread with aioli and a fish based dip
and 3 little pastry rolls to taste.
We all opted for a Menu of the Day items that we mixed -

The mushroom starter got our vote and was piping hot on arrival.
All the food arrived together and was hot. The presentation was lovely and
the portion sizes good.
We all enjoyed our meals; my only comment being that my chicken breast was a
bit dry.
The desert menu was varied with a large selection of pre packed ice creams
and although I was initially drawn to the chocolate tart. It was a case of
my eyes being bigger than my belly so instead we decided on coffee and
liqueurs to finish, a perfect end to a most enjoyable meal.
We were drinking a very nice Spanish house red wine.
The final bill came to €82.18 but that included 2 bottles of wine, water and
6 liquors. Our coffees were not charged because we had hot had deserts.
Another friend joined us and we stayed until 23:30 - hence the extra drinks!
On recalculating the bill and deducting for the extra drinks we would have
spent less than €45.00 (including IVA).
